Interesting Kids Through Story

One of the best ways to intrigue a child is by reading them a story.  Each turn of a book page draws them further into a world of make believe (or reality) and wraps them in interest to see how it will end.  Here are a few of my children's favorites:

Rudyard Kipling - THE JUNGLE BOOKS
Charlotte's Web

What stories are your kids loving?

  1. my son is 2.5 and he loves anything with animals in it. Over and over and over and over lol

stopping by from the alexa hop

  2. I LOVE little bear stories. I haven't seen the pout pout fish. I'll have to try it. My toddler, and other kids when they were toddlers, all loved the Sandra Boynton books like The Belly Button Book and But Not the Hippopotamus, etc. As for me, I love Don and Aubrey Wood books, Chris Van Allsberg and Graeme Base. There's a book we found at a flea market while overseas called the Bear Dance. It's out of print, I don't know why it's so adorable. It's by Chris Riddell and you can get it used from Amazon. It should have won an award the illustrations are great. I also love Singing to the Sun by Vivian French which we found at the same flea market--also at Amazon but not out of print. It's a great twist on a modern type fairy tale. I could go on forever about kids books so I'll stop.

  3. My 9-year old is really into chapter books about hamsters right now and you'd be surprised how many there are. She is reading one right now from the library and the next one on her list is something about a psychic hamster. Crazy! Not exactly a classic. :)

  4. How wonderful to see The Pout-Pout Fish on this list. I'm glad your kids like it!

    Best Fishes,
Debbie Diesen (author of The Pout-Pout Fish)

  5. These are some of our favorites, too. Thanks for linking up to The Children's Bookshelf.

  6. My 6 year old loves Pigeon. She and her friends just crack up at his antics. Stopping over from The Children's Bookshelf.

  7. We love these books too. Right now my child is into the Tacky the Penguin books. : ) Thanks for linking up to The Children's Bookshelf!

It's so nice to hear your ideas! Thanks for taking the time to share.
